Blue Man Group Tour: A Multimedia Extravaganza Coming to your Town in 2010

The tour, which is the first Blue Man Group tour in North America, is set to kick off in the early fall of 2010, and it will continue for several months into 2011. The company has not yet announced the exact cities and dates of their shows, but they assure customers that they will be traveling far and wide with their innovative performance.

If you’re a fan of Blue Man Group albums and videos, this will give you a chance to finally see them in person. As anyone who has seen the show will tell you, it’s really something that has to be experienced in person. The videos are great, but all that cutting and jumping around sort of distracts from the fact that all of the group’s skits and stunts are done live and in an incredibly seamless way.

To give a basic introduction, the Blue Man Group started out as an independent theater production in lower Manhattan in the early 1990s. The production was so strange and innovative that it wasn’t long before they were winning awards and selling out theaters. They soon moved to the larger Astor Place Theatre in Manhattan. Their Boston show opened in 1995, the Chicago version came in 1997, and it’s been nothing but expansion ever since.

Finally, people from all over the country will get to see what the strange blue men with their dances, music, and stunts are all about. Essentially, it’s a multi-media extravaganza that uses pounding drums, rock music, light shows, and a huge video screen to support the antics of three men who are painted blue. That’s all there is to it, really, but so much more comes out in the execution.

When asked why it took the company so long to do a full Blue Man Group tour, the founder of the show said that they wanted to be able to get it right. After all, let’s not forget that Blue Man Group shows are complicated productions. They’re not like any other concert experience in the world.
